Chiangmai Thailand Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Chiang Mai Arrival (D)
After having a refreshing breakfast, we will pick up students from Chiang Mai International Airport, then we will transfer directly to your hotels. You will be served dinner in the hotels and stay overnight in Chiangmai.
Day 2: Long Neck Hill Tribe Village - Chiang Dao Cave - Wat Tham Pha Bong Temples (B, L, D)
The second day of this trip will start with an early morning, a scrumptious breakfast and hot chocolate before checking out to start your school journey. Drive up to the Chiang Dao cave, you will marvel at unique stalactite and stalagmite formations in Thailand. But you just can explore a short part of the total 12-kilometer cave.
Further up from Chiang Dao Cave, head to the Long Neck hill tribe village to see the original ‘Long Neck Karen’ ethnic hill-tribe. Women wear big brass rings around necks as part of their culture, which creates an extraordinary image for the country. Next, visit the meditation temple of Wat Tham Phabong with its view in the quiet areas. After a whole morning visiting around, students will have lunch in the local restaurant. Then, we spend the afternoon to drive up to Baan Mae Mae for homestay and have dinner.
Day 3: Trekking and Visiting Temples (B, L, D)
In next day, we will have breakfast in the homestay and then trek for 3-4 hours along the mountain trails in the forest and river to enjoy the spectacular natural beauty. Down to the mountains, students have a chance to plunge at cool and beautiful waterfalls under safety rules. At noon, lunch at the local village. Continue to do interesting activities namely tea picking and baskets weaving in the afternoon would be amazing. The next visits are Temple and Cave of Chiang Dao, where we will have a brief bathroom break and explore this destination for 1 hour. The architecture and ornament in the Chiang Dao temple complex are unique features with blue and white decorative schemes. Last, students and teachers will dine at the homestay and overnight in Chiang Dao.
Day 4: Bua Tong Waterfalls – Mae Ngat Dam (B, L, D)
After having breakfast, we leave the homestay and head to the reputable sticky waterfall of Bua Tong which is a must-see place to explore. Bua Tong is a spectacular sticky waterfall in Thailand, so all students can experience climbing directly up the rocks into the oncoming cascading water. Continue to Mae Ngat Dam where we take the longtail boat to the floating bungalows. It is a great chance for students to cycle through rice paddy fields and explore breathtaking views along unpaved country lanes.
Then lunch on the amazing raft. After that, enjoy a relaxing afternoon swimming in the lake and enjoy the surrounding. In the evening, dinner will be also prepared on the raft. Overnight in the Mae Ngat Dam reservoir.
Day 5: Bua Tong Waterfalls – Mae Ngat Dam (B, L, D)
After delicious breakfast and a warming hot chocolate, we will leave the floating bungalows by long-tail boat and head to the Mae Tang River for 10 km whitewater rafting experience. Students will have a chance to explore the diverse and dense jungle of the Mae Taeng area because this place offers an intimate glimpse of the natural life of the Asian Elephant.
Next, our rafting adventure on the Mae Taeng river will get exciting mostly because we spend our time exploring 10km of whitewater. Moreover, on the way to the Mae Taeng River, students can see stunning views surrounding the Northern Thai countryside with quiet villages nestled in the forested mountains. After the lunchtime with delicious lunch on rafts, we will proceed to Phoenix Adventure Park for a challenging 25 platform high rope course. Our students can enjoy a lot of fascinating activities like a zip-line, walking on ropes, climbing on a small wall and rope net.
At the end of this day, we will arrive back at our main camp where we will have a delicious dinner and overnight accommodation in Mae Rim.
Day 6: Studying Elephant Habitat & Free Visiting (B, L, D)
After delicious breakfast and a warming hot chocolate, we will embark on our second day of learning about elephants. We will transfer to the Elephant Sanctuary then change to traditional clothing and learn on Thai elephant history. There, students can learn about the history of elephants in Thailand as well as its abolishment and the establishment of different types of elephant tourism. At this camp, students will observe the animals in the remote location in the natural habitat, as well as feed them and wash them in the river. Absolutely, this is an amazing experience for students.
Vegetarian Thai lunch will be served at the camp. After lunchtime, move to Chiang Mai and you have a free afternoon to explore favorite destinations. We will have dinner at the local restaurant and overnight in Chiang Mai.
Day 7: Heading to Doi Suthep & Doi Pui’s Meo (B, L, D)
After our stunning sunrise across Chiang Mai followed by breakfast, we will prepare our departure on the hill and tribe village in the whole morning. First, visit the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. It is about 7km in length and finishing off at the Huay Tung Tao Reservoir, which is a large lake with bamboo huts to relax when overlooking the mountains of Doi Pui. Therefore, this destination attracts a lot of people to come and see breathtaking sceneries. Upon arrival at the Reservoir, students will have the opportunity to enjoy local cuisines on floating local Thai style huts and witness stunning views across the lake. In the afternoon, we return to the city and take a rest. Students will have dinner at restaurants in the local area, and overnight in Chiang Mai.
Day 8: Seeing Doi Inthanon Park – Visiting Hill Tribe Village (B, L, D)
After scrumptious breakfast, head to the national park of Doi Inthanon, where we make soft trekking of about 2.5 hours to the Phadokseaw waterfall. Doi Inthanon is the highest peak of Thailand, so we can admire the mountain views and refresh ourselves in the fresh cool air. There are also a variety of butterflies puddling on the shore of the river or stream in the Wachiratharn waterfall. The next visit is the Karen hill tribe village then the student can shop and visit the hill market as well as the fall and have lunch. This evening we will stay at the hotel and enjoy the fire roasting marshmallows. How interesting it is!
Day 9: Wat Chai Mongkhol - Trying Khao Soi Dish (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we will transfer to the jetty at Wat Chai Mongkhol, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which definitely does not disappoint you! Then, students will take a boat ride on the Ping River to visit the Thai farmer's house. On this day, we will start our tour in Thailand by visiting its garden of herbs and fruits, and the rice field. At noon, you will have a chance to eat signature local cuisine, Khao Soi. You will never forget its smell and taste!
Return to the hotel and we will balance the day at leisure. Also, have dinner in the restaurant.
Day 10: Pedaling and Biking Tour (B, L, D)
Get up early and have breakfast, then we will pick up the bicycle to pedal to the station for a short train ride to Lamphun. After arrival, visit Wat Phrathat Harinpoonchai and enjoy the quiet lanes of this small city. Continue to the countryside along canals and fields back to Chiang Mai with stops on the way and local lunch at a village. Next, students will bike to the wood carving village in Ban Tawai to see the carvers at work. We will return Chiang Mai in the afternoon and it is approximately 30 km between the two places. We spend the afternoon at leisure and have dinner.
Day 11: Making Handicraft & Seeing Art Museum (B, L, D)
Today, we can kick off our new day with a fresh-caught breakfast to keep on our journey. In the morning, students will visit the local handicraft village and see the making of paper umbrellas, the weaving of Thai silk and the making of silver and lacquerware. This will help them develop their creativity thanks to art.
After meals at lunchtime, we spend the afternoon continuing to visit the illusion art museum of Art In Paradise, which paintings on a flat surface create a 3D visual art. End the afternoon by dinner at the local restaurant and end your day in Chiang Mai.
Day 12: Chiang Mai Departure (B)
After having breakfast, take the time to say farewell to new friends. Check out time is noon. Then the guide and driver will transfer you to the Chiang Mai airport for the flight. Have a nice journey!
