Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City Arrival – Cyclo & Water Puppet Show (D)
Upon arrival, at Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City, students and teachers will be warmly greeted by our guide and then drive to our hotel in the city center to check-in and take a short break. After that, we will pay a visit to Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office, two of the must-see destinations in Saigon. We then take a cyclo ride along the tree-lined boulevard of this charming city before sitting in the Golden Theatre to enjoy a 45-minute show of the exciting Water Puppet. Enjoy a scrumptious dinner at a nice restaurant. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 2: Retracing Vietnam History with 04 Most Neglected War Sites (B, L, D)
Weak up early in the morning, students and teachers will enjoy a refreshing breakfast before visiting the shrine outside of the US Consulate.
Afterward, we will take students to the former CIA building (Central Intelligence Agency) - 1st war site, which is helicopters evacuated the remaining US citizens in 1975. This building is the most significant landmark( at 22 Ly Tu Trong street). Then, we reach the Independence Palace with The Reunification Front Gate – 2nd war site which is the former headquarters of the South Vietnamese Government and residence of the presidents. The moment the tank crashed through the front gate carrying the North Vietnamese flag marked a turning point in Vietnam’s history and changed the country’s path forever. Our next destination is The Venerable Thich Quang Duc Monument – 3rd war site honoring Thich Quang Duc – a Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk who burned himself to death to anti the war. The park is located at the place Thich Quang Duc burned himself (70-72 Cach Mang Thang Tam street, District 3). Come to the park, students can see a statue of Thich Quang Duc, which is sitting calmly in the lotus position and his face unflinching despite the fire is burning.
At lunchtime, we head to a historic venue for a late lunch at the Pho Binh restaurant. After that, we will take a walk upstairs to learn more about deep history through the family’s photo collection before enjoying the traditional taste of pho downstairs. After that, we take a short visit to 197 Ngo Gia Tu, District 10 Ho Chi Minh City - 4th war site, where the Viet Cong soldier, Nguyen Van Lem - was condemned for war crimes and was executed here. Keep moving War Remnants Museum and students can take a great chance to get a deeper understanding of historical events of the American war.
We finish our day with a present - a symbol of Saigon – reputable Bitexco Building – the highest building in the city. We will see the city from the Sky Deck (Entrance ticket is excluded) on the 49th floor of the building. Students will be served dinner in Saigon River. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 3: Cao Dai Temple - The Napalm Girl - 5th Neglected War Sites & Cu Chi Tunnel (B, L)
This morning we take a drive to Cao Dai Temple in Tay Ninh, which is a significant religious site in Vietnam with the unique architecture and sacred religious spirit. Religion is a hybrid of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Christianity. Just a short drive, we will move to the village of The Napalm Girl, who are very famous in Nick Ut’s photo, is instantly recognizable and highlights the intense brutality of the Vietnam war.
After having lunch, we will drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels, the network included innumerable trap doors, especially storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers, and kitchens.
At the end of the day, we return to Ho Chi Minh City for a special dinner and overnight accommodation at the hotel.
Day 4: Ho Chi Minh - Vung Tau - Long Tan & Nui Dat (B, L)
Today, students will be served a refreshing breakfast before moving to Vung Tau. Our first stop is the site of the former Nui Dat Task Force Base followed by a visit to the Long Tan Cross.
Afterward, we continue to the Long Phuoc Tunnels and visit the former Minh Dam Secret Zone and Long Hai. Sight-seeing in Vung Tau will also include the massive War Memorial at Back Beach.
After having lunch, we will head to the Nui Dat Kindergarten which is built by Australian Veterans for children in the village. At present, it provides long daycare for 50 children between the ages of 3 and 5. Interestingly, whether we are helping with their lessons or enjoying a game of soccer. It is an absolutely unforgettable memory for students. Late afternoon, we make our way back to Saigon for overnight accommodation.
Day 5: Ho Chi Minh City Departure (B)
After breakfast, students and teachers have free time to relax until our driver arrives to take them to NoiBai airport for our departure flight. The school trip ends. We hope our journey will last forever in the students’ minds.
