Full Itinerary
Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City Arrival
On arrival at Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City, students will be greeted and driven to our hotel in the city centre. After check-in, we will be free to wander around the hustle and bustle city and spend the night in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City Tour – Joined tour (B, L)
Today, we visit all the highlights in Ho Chi Minh city such as the Reunification Palace, a palace of old President in South of Vietnam during the American war; the War Remnants Museum where is poignant display of the futility of war; Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office, the two sites that we can ignore when we visit the city.
After lunch, we travel to the district 5 to visit Cho Lon (China town), Thien Hau pagoda & Binh Tay market. We also stop at the oldest pagoda Giac Lam Pagoda and also is one of the finest pagodas in Vietnam. We then head back to the center to do shopping at famous Ben Thanh market, this bustling and well-organized market is very popular with tourists, primarily due to its central location. It has a wide selection of goods ranging from fake Nike shoes to beautiful silk Ao Dai.
Our free evening activities include: walking around at the lively streets of Saigon, explore the highest building in Saigon, Bitexco…. Overnight in Saigon.
Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City – Cu Chi Tunnels by Speedboat – Joined tour (B, L)
Cu Chi – otherwise known as the "Iron Triangle" or "Iron Land" was the place that Vietnamese lived and fought during the American War. For a normal classic tour, we can take a car and drives there, but for a different experience, we will visit Cu Chi Tunnels by speedboat.
Pick up at our hotel at around 7.30 AM, we will transfer to the port in Saigon River and enjoy 1-hour scenic boat ride to the tunnels. On arrival, we will see a short introductory video showing how they were constructed, followed by an exploration of the maze of tunnels, some of which have been widened to allow tourist access. Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of an American tank as well as numerous bomb craters made by 500lb bombs dropped by B52 bombers.
If you wish, we can try firing M-16, AK-47 and carbine rifle at the National Defence Sports Shooting Range. After lunch, we will return to Ho Chi Minh City and have the rest of the day free at leisure. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 4: Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Rustic (B, L, D)
After breakfast at hotel, we will escape from the lively Ho Chi Minh City and head to Cai Be in the Mekong Delta. On arrival, we visit the Cao Dai Cai Be Temple and Cai Be Cathedral right at the town to understand more about the religious life of Mekong people.
We then embark on a tourist boat to visit the inland and floating markets of Cai Be, where we will be introduced the local agricultural, marine products and buy the ingredients for our own dinner. Continuing on boat to head to Mekong Rustic in Tan Phong Island, where we will check-in our room for relaxing and having lunch.
In the afternoon, we will take part in local activity of ditch fishing hook, which will bring us a rustic and great experience especially when catching fish on river for dinner. Back to the Mekong Rustic and join our chefs in the kitchen with Mekong Delta’s special dishes such as elephant ear fish, spring rolls…Overnight in the Mekong Rustic.
Day 5: Mekong Rustic - Ho Chi Minh City (B, L)
After breakfast, our guide will guide us to explore more the Tan Phong Island by bike. We will visit the traditional handicraft workshops of handbags, rice papers along with wooden tables and chairs. We then call in at a local farmer’s family, talk with the host about the importance of agricultural for the Mekong Delta’s people, we then try plucking the fruits and tasting them.
The 2nd day tour continues with a visit to the ‘bang’ conical hat (nón bàng) workshop before going back to our lodge to fresh, check out and get back to our boat to transfer us back to the mainland where our car is waiting and take us to hotel in Ho Chi Minh City where we spend the night.
Day 6: Ho Chi Minh City Departure (B)
Time will be free until our car arrives to take us to the airport in good time for departure flight. Tour ends.
